When It Comes To A Real Fight - Knocking Down The Tiger.

Fierce Tiger

Understand these types of fighter:
Type A: Traditionist or Hardcore
If someone practices the martial arts, it doesn't mean that they are the best fighter but they still can be considered as martial artist when they practice it regularly and improving. They truly understand what ever things that they are feed to and do. They are open for self improvement & revolutionary ideas. They understand that martial art will not provide any assurance of victory in a fight and they may fall to a better equiped fighter and learn from it. Never give up.
Type B: 'Devoted' Day Dreamer
There are people in this world who dream with utmost devotion: to be a fighter, They signing up for training. In time, they escape the training with excuses and leave the dojo when they lost the 'motivation' or failed to understand the wisdom - being bored. There are also 'masters' in various martial arts getting their revelation just from watching kungfu show on TV or involved in distance learning from youtube university - and guess what? They are posting their thrash thoughts back to the stream media for you to read. The ability to fight? You can tell me.

The Reality

Even if you think that you are among the type A people, I have seen a lot of black belts with glass jaws. Teachers in famous martial art school, having hundreds of followers, can't hold even a straight punch to the face in street. They are unable to escape locking technique during submission-moves and there are some who had to surrender himself to a cheap eye-puncture technique. The tiger was beaten to the ground by a 'green fighter' and it is not something we familiar with. I guess this is the great martial art challenge of this age. The reality for us. We need to improve and get serious and get back to the real meaning of the art.

When you get knocked down, you can either stay down and leave this article OR choose to get back up and continue reading. Study back the root of martial art to understand it's core, fundamental, purpose and limitation. Your choice.

What is the Martial Art?

Martial art was genuinely designed not to win any of today's sports game. It came from revolutionary battlefield art of tactical warfare, struggle and survival. In fact, all warfare is based on deception. Some lives more than thousand years of age. Codified systems and traditions of combat practices has been passed down from generation to generation.

Reason? There are variety of reasons: self-defense, physical health and fitness, entertainment, as well as mental, physical, and spiritual development. However. a good martial art should include the ability to deliver necessary attacks and able to avoid or divert or intercept any attacks, in physical form of blows, throws and holds or in spiritual form. It is a complete set of skill to against injustice either to your own body and soul or freedom. To improve bravery. The ultimate aim of martial art is to resolve an issue without having to use them. (Miyamoto Musashi).

But if there is no option, you have to make the best of you. Street, UFC, MMA and related real-fighting are no place for cowards.

De Silva VS Bonnar. UFC

If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him.
If he is in superior strength, evade him.
If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him.
Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant.
If he is taking his ease, give him no rest.
If his forces are united, separate them.
If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them.
Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.

My Budo Ten Commandments

1. Get out from your comfort zone! Practice to throw a 'real-world-standard' punches and kicks (striking), harden it to multiple surfaces such as wall and tree and not just punching on bags or thin air. Sharpen it by landing it on the right desired vital points with crushing power most of the time onto moving targets - Be Patient.

2. Do research about yourself. How exactly your heart and body works in a real fight. Do they works as a team? What about your arrogance, determination & weaknesses? Type of opponent, situation and environment. How many weapons can you operate?

3. Don't rely on striking alone. Don't think you know everything! Study throwing and grappling as well and how to used against them. If you master the striking style art, empty your cup and learn other style/school and DO YOUR BEST.

4. Timing is everything!

5. Learn the ability to take 'safe' hit and to endure repeated barrage attacks (maybe from more than one person) in 8 directions. Don't worry, humans are famous in adaptation capability. Take more pain to learn what is pain and how to avoid it 'automatically'. Use body roll to escape.

6. Your spirits, stances, attacks are best to be done in Natural Way - Hidden Way. Avoid robotic-like movement in your style. Hide your real intention and facial expression. Remain calm in heart.

7. Be a good son/daughter to your parents and respect your teachers, elders and other martial artists.

8. Don't attack but strike back. You could 'read' your opponents attacking style and force by utilizing your 'sixth sense' at his first move. How to get this? Ask your master and train diligently.

9. You are not Superman, don't use too much energy. Use it efficiently. Reserve some for plan B or if somebody interfere in. Fight smart and outsmart your opponent. Sometime, a stick is better than your fist to survive. Always moving is a good strategy not to be hit.

10. Your heart must be pure. If you are the one who started the fight with ungodly reasons, you will NEVER gain success. Have a true reason in your heart why you have to do this and 'The Fist and Eye of God' will be developed in you. Believe in Allah and His Messenger and have No Regret. Do it to protect yourself, family or country. Stay humble. Humility is NOT the art of drawing attention to whatever we are trying to be humble about. Be genuine in your humility.

You are the Tiger if you choose to be. Knocking down other tiger is just another episode in life!
If you do believe in Allah, you are God's Tiger!
